Trafficator
Many highly populated cities around the world have traffic notification signs installed on the major highways leading into and out of the city. Using these signs, drivers can select the shortest route from point A to point B. Trafficator allows you to turn any area into a highway system with notifications as to the traffic conditions.
The Trafficator app broadcasts the current traffic conditions at your location. The app runs in the background and determines if you are in light, medium or heavy traffic. When you pass out of traffic the broadcast will turn off to conserve your battery life. Using the GPS can decrease battery life dramatically.
In order for Trafficator to be of optimum use, the base of motorists running Trafficator on their iPhone or iPad must be large. If only a few motorists use Trafficator or your location has a small population, then the amount of traffic information Trafficator provides will be very limited.
Road warriors that rely on Trafficator will be best served by hooking their iPhone up to a car charger so that the battery is not drained while driving. When making a stop or moving out of traffic Trafficator will stop broadcasting resulting in saving on the battery power.
When you are driving and find a heavy zone of traffic that is causing a large slow down, you can send messages by email or SMS messages to friends and acquaintances. Trafficator will notify you with a banner on the screen when you are in traffic. The alternate view in Trafficator is a map showing the region where the traffic is backing up. The map view provides you the ability to plot a different route to avoid the medium or heavy traffic. The map is marked with indicators showing other locations Trafficator’s are broadcasting.
As mentioned, the ideal situation is for every iPhone to use Trafficator to monitor traffic when they drive. To achieve this goal, each user must be an advocate for the app with all their friends and acquaintances. Relate to them how helpful Trafficator is when you are traveling and how easy it is to use.
