Ten’s and Two’s

Can I say how great it feels to find a card game that is not Texas Hold ‘Em. I have come across so manyTexashold ‘em games both for the iPhone and on the computer as well that I never want to play that infernal game ever again. So Ten’s and Two’s is a card game that some of you may know, I did not and over the past few days I have been playing it to great delight. Basically, this is a game like Gin or Rummy. The goal is to be the first one to get rid of all the cars in your hand. Ten’s and two’s sounds pretty simple, pit it takes a lot of smarts and even more luck.

So Ten’s and Two’s is a game where the Ten’s and Two’s are the strongest cards in the deck. A ten clears the deck of discarded cards, and a two resets it. Every turn a player must discard a card, and it has to be a card that is a higher value than the card on the top of the discard pile. If a player cannot play a card higher in value, and does not have a ten or a two, he must pick up the entire discard stack. To start the game a player gets three cards in their hand and six cards on the table. The first one to get rid of all nine cards is the winner.

There are two really great features about this game. The first is the interactive tutorial. There are a million and one cards games out there, and it can sometimes be pretty hard to figure a new one out. Ten’s and Two’s takes you through the game play step by step, and after going through the tutorial one knows exactly how this game is played. The other thing I really enjoyed was if a player is not the first one to get rid of all their cards, the game does not end. Play continues until someone comes in last. That gives this game a lot of replay value and a chance to develop new strategies.

The graphics for Ten’s and Two’s are what one would expect. It is a green fuzzy card table and many decks of cards. There are no big surprises here. The sound F/X are also basically what you would expect. When a player clears the discard deck we hear cards shuffling, and there are three different in game music tracks to pick from. All in all ten’s and two’s is a very fun card game that will be on my iPhone for a long time to come.
