SwirlPaint
SwirlPaint by ChewOnGlass.com is used as a basic painting program that creates kaleidoscope-like images just by swiping your finger across the screen. With this unique doodling app, you can create beautiful images, while being entertained for hours.
SwirlPaint is very basic app. There aren’t any directions on how the app is used, but because it’s so basic – they aren’t really needed. When you first open SwirlPaint, you immediately come to a plain white screen (which is where you will create your kaleidoscope image). At the bottom of your screen, there are four black tabs labeled as color, lines, clear and save. By tapping the color tab, you are shown an absolutely generous selection of colors to choose from (120 to be exact)! Once you’ve chosen the color you want to start with, you can then tap on the lines tab where you can choose if you want to draw with only one line at a time or use up to ten different lines (similar to drawing with ten pens in your hand)! When I first started using SwirlPaint (even without knowing how be very creative yet), I started by using seven lines, one color and simply drawing in a circle. Even this image was beautiful! Now that I’ve been playing with SwirlPaint more and more, I have become quite the artist! Now, I like to layer my lines using different colors and different amounts of lines for each color. I made this incredible image by using the four primary colors, red, yellow, blue and green, along with a neon version of each of those same colors! It was beautiful and so fun!
I noticed when drawing an image, the more gentle and quick you are with your finger swipes, the thinner your lines come out. The slower and harder you are with your finger swipes, the thicker they are! If you mess up and want to start over, simply tap the clear tab and watch, as your screen is wiped perfectly clean! You can save your images by pressing the save tab where they are saved to your camera roll.
SwirlPaint reminds me of playing with a kaleidoscope when I was a kid! The images are unique and beautiful, but unlike with my kaleidoscope, I get customize my own images! For such a simple app, SwirlPaint is really a lot of fun!
