DT Calculator, Now Available For iPhone and Android

Storagepipe Solutions has been helping companies comply with data management regulations, prevent unplanned downtime, and protect their data for nearly ten years. In addition to their paid services, they’ve also published a few free tools that help IT administrators perform emergency simulation drills. One of the more popular free tools that they’ve created has been the Downtime Cost Calculator, which can be tested out at http://downtimecost.com. The Downtime Cost Calculator is a financial tool that anonymously takes in key company financial data, and runs a series of algorithms to estimate what the financial impact would be in the event of a sudden full datacenter crash.

Although this web-based tool was very useful for IT staff, business owners and finance executives, it required internet access and a computer in order to be used. However, this is no longer the case. Storagepipe has responded to user suggestions by re-writing and re-launching their Downtime Calculator as a set of free smartphone and mobile device apps. These can be downloaded and installed on any current iPhone, iPod Touch or Android device. As mobile computing devices continue to gain popularity, so should the popularity of this new – more practical – format.

Using the calculator app is simple. Just enter a few key variables relating to staffing, revenue, and the degree to which these areas rely on IT systems to do their job. (ex: A construction company would be less reliant than an online retailer) Once you’ve entered in all of the data, simply click on the Panic button to see the productivity and revenue losses in real-time. Storagepipe Solutions is probably best known as one of the early pioneers of – what has now become – the “online backup” industry. They started out in 2001 by offering simple cost-saving online backup services for larger companies, but have since expanded their reach into other areas of cloud data protection.

Today, they are still leading the way with some of the best and most trusted data archiving, ediscovery, high-availability and specialty applications. Companies with complex data management needs rely on Storagepipe because of their experience in applying cloud data protection to IBM, Oracle, SQL, Linux, Mac and many other types of systems. For more information about online data protection or IT disaster planning, you can contact Storagepipe Solutions at http://storagepipe.com. And to download the mobile edition of Storagepipe’s Downtime Cost Calculator, you can visit http://downtimecost.com.
