SimpleRockets by Jundroo LLC is a realistic rocket launching game, where you’ll experience both rocket and orbital physics! You’ll be trained in designing, building, flying, orbiting and advanced orbiting, which will prepare you for 12 different challenges that range from various types of take offs and landings! SimpleRockets even lets you launch your rocket from every planet known to mankind!
I love the details SimpleRockets gives when teaching you just how a rocket is designed! I learned about how the Command Pod is the brain of the rocket ship, and that it must be kept safe. A ship cannot run without the brain. Besides the brain, there is a fuel tank and an engine. Those three parts make up the simplest rocket that can be launched. To add additional fuel, you can stack up fuel tanks. Rockets can be built in stages, and you should really have two of them. Single staged rockets are extremely limited, and if you want to get it into orbit, you’ll need more than one single stage. So, lets say you have two of them. The first stage has large fuel tanks and engines, which provide the power to get the rocket through the atmosphere. The second stage is smaller and used to get the rocket to a stable orbit. Once your first stage runs out of fuel, you can active the detacher, which will drop the used up engine and tank. This lets your second stage work without the dead weight. Talk about information, right? Holy smokes! I learned more in this game that I ever did in my science classes! Not to mention that was only talking about how a rocket is designed! There’s that much info on how it’s built, flown and orbited, as well! I highly suggest checking out SimpleRockets for any gamer, who’s interested in some great science! Who knows, maybe it’ll make you want to become an astronaut!
iTunes describes SimpleRockets like so:
Design your own rocket ships. Blast off into space. Explore the solar system. See if you have what it takes to be a rocket scientist.
Choose and connect parts together to build rocket ships. You can choose from a variety of rocket engines, fuel tanks, and other gizmos. You can even build rovers with powered wheels. You are only limited by your imagination.
Blast off from any planet you want. You can fly through the intense atmosphere of Venus, or you can take advantage of the low gravity of Mercury. Whip around the sun and launch yourself out to the far reaches of the solar system.
Several challenges are built into the game so you can compete with other humans from around the world to see who can go the fastest, fly the farthest, orbit with the least amount of fuel, land on the moon, and so much more.
Kepler wrote the equations 400 years ago, and SimpleRockets uses those equations to model extremely realistic orbital physics. Players will learn about rocket science and astrodynamics while they are having a blast exploring the solar system. This makes SimpleRockets ideal for the classroom, or as a healthy alternative to the barrage of brainless games available on the App Store.
