Rumor: Production Problems Already Plaguing iPhone 6

There’s trouble in Cupertino. Perhaps, more accurately, there’s trouble inside of Apple’s critically important Asian manufacturing chain.

Production of Apple’s intensely rumored 5.5-inch “phablet” iPhone 6 model isn’t running smoothly.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tells investors in a new research note that Apple’s 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will arrive as anticipated in early fall, but the 5.5-inch model may be delayed for an extended period of time. Why?

“According to Kuo,” Apple Insider reports, “Apple is already facing production bottlenecks on the 4.7-inch model related to the new technology for the device’s in-cell touch panel, as well as color unevenness on the redesigned ‘iPhone 6′ metal casing. Those problems are said to be even worse with the larger 5.5-inch model.”

If Apple fails to deliver the larger model iPhone 6 in time for the holiday shopping rush, analysts fear Apple will fail to convert a large number of Android fans who have remained with Google’s little robot primarily because of the popular and plentiful Android-powered phablet models available.
