Walmart is slashing prices on the iPhone 5S and 5C in preparation for launch of iPhone 6 this fall, Wireless Week reports. The 16GB iPhone 5S is selling for $99, down from $149 previously, and the iPhone 5C is selling for $29, down from $49. The prices reduction are likely an effort to reduce inventory in preparation for the launch of iPhone 6 expected in September, the report notes. Read more

Mobile ad network Perion Network has agreed to purchase start-up Grow Mobile for up to $42 million in cash and equity, Reuters reports. The purchase is seen as an effort by Perion to expand its mobile app advertising offerings. Grow Mobile enables mobile app developers to buy and track campaigns to increase the number of users.

Cities are partnering with mobile parking firms to launch mobile apps that enable drivers to find and pay for parking using their mobile phones. “What we’re seeing is a demand from our consumers to offer a level of convenience that really heretofore hadn’t been the hallmark of the parking industry,” says Casey Jones, spokesman for the International Parking Institute. roid Wear smartwatch, Mobile Market reports. “Today, we get more than 19 million monthly unique mobile visitors on Trulia and we believe that this number will only continue to grow–especially as the ‘mobile’ space expands from smartphones and tablets to wearables. Windows Phone 8.1′s voice-enabled digital assistant Cortana is now compatible with Microsoft’s Skype VoIP app, reports eWeek. The latest Skype app integrates Cortana, which enable Windows Phone users to use their voice to search the Web, make calendar appointments, ask for directions, and other tasks. “Now you can start Skype video and audio calls by simply asking Cortana something like ‘Skype get Lara Kingwell on the screen,’” says Lara Kingwell, a Skype product marketing manager.
