Moves by ProtoGeo is a excellent tracking app! There are so many exercise apps that track your running and biking, but what about just tracking your steps? Moves tells you exactly how much you move, automatically tracking your everyday life. As long as your phone is in your pocket or your purse, Moves will track you! It was so interesting for me to see just how far I walked around my office in the eight hours I was there! The results were shocking! Moves visualized my day in a simple outline!
Moves makes me think twice about taking the escalator at the mall! The app gives credit where credit is due! It makes you notice what you do, which in turn makes you want to do more! Moves does record biking and running, but unlike any other app I’ve downloaded, it also records every step you take! My local mall has three-stories, which means a lot of walking for all shoppers! I’ve adjusted my shopping methods to taking the long route to each store, and I’m definitely reaping the benefits.
I’ve used Moves for a month now, and I’ve already doubled my daily walking from when I first started using the app! Moves gives me credit for my steps, which is a push I need to become more active!
iTunes lists Moves’ features, benefit and battery use as such:
- Automatic Tracking: Records daily walking, cycling and running.
- Places: Recognizes places in your daily life.
- Storyline: Visualizes your day in an easy-to-read timeline.
- Routes on map: See the paths you took.
- Pedometer: Counts your steps, so you can set simple goals.
Seeing your everyday exercise can help you think about your life in a new way. Start with small changes that can lead to a fitter lifestyle and healthier habits.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
With Moves, our goal was to create an app that will keep your phone running fine if you charge it nightly. In tests with Moves and other typical phone use, we’ve reached that goal, but your results may vary, as there are many variables that affect battery consumption. We’re continuously working on minimizing battery consumption even further.
