Mobile Paid Search Sees Gains and More Google Dominance

Approximately 25% of paid clicks in Q4 2012 came from a mobile device. That’s according to the latest research and analysis from The Search Agency.

Highlighted this morning by eMarketer, the research shows that the US share of paid clicks coming from smartphone and tablet devices nearly doubled between Q4 2011 and Q4 2012.

Tablets’ share grew especially rapidly, and accounted for nearly 10% of the market in Q4 2012. Overall, 23.4% of paid clicks came from mobile devices last quarter.

Not surprisingly, Google remains the top dog in this field, and there’s no sign that distant rivals like Bing will take over any time soon.

“eMarketer estimates that US advertisers will increase mobile search ad spending 80.6% this year to $3.54 billion, up from $1.99 billion in 2012,” today’s report reads.
