BuddyTV Guide by BuddyTV is a personal TV guide that’s used not only for your cable/satellite but for Netflix, as well! You can even create you own custom TV lineup, register for reminders and link to Facebook to share your TV favorites with your friends. Sharing your favorite shows over Facebook is a great idea. The reason I usually try out a new show is from hearing about it from a friend who loves it. That’s the way I started watching my favorite two shows now, Grey’s Anatomy and The Secret Circle. Over time – by marking the shows you enjoy watching most as your favorites and rating other shows you like and dislike, BuddyTV Guide will learn what you enjoy watching. It will eventually list your preferences, along with suggestions, too!
Upon downloading BuddyTV Guide, you need to register with a username, email address and password. At this time, you can decide if you want to connect with Facebook or not. Once you have registered, BuddyTV Guide asks for your TV provider. You enter your zip code, then BuddyTV Guide gives you the cable/satellite providers for your area, allowing you to choose the company and location you go through.
I absolutely LOVE that BuddyTV Guide can link to my Netflix account and help me find shows on there, too! When you have your account set up, BuddyTV Guide will ask you to rate a list of shows. This is how the app gets to know your taste in shows. The list you’re given is pretty long, so I just rated the shows and movies I’ve heard of and know if I like or not. Under listings, BuddyTV Guide gives you a list of shows and movies on both Netflix and cable that it thinks you might be interested in watching! Also under listings, you can scroll through options of sports, action, children, comedy, documentary, drama, family, movie, reality, news & talk and science fiction to find exactly what you’re in the mood to watch! Let’s say you wanted to watch some kind of news, and you chose the news and talk category. Not only does BuddyTV Guide list all these types of shows on TV right now, but it lists the title, channel and how many minutes that program has left! Talk about every bit of information you would want! You can swipe to the side to show the news shows that will be on in the next hour, and every hour through out the day! If you get off work at 4:30PM and want to catch the news when you get home, you can look at all the news & talk shows that will be on at 5:00PM! If you choose a category other than news & talk, let’s say it was science fiction. Not only would you be shown all the science fiction shows and movies on TV right now, but BuddyTV Guide would also give you a few Netflix movie ideas!
The app is easy to use, with an interface that fits the iPhone to perfection! I LOVE BuddyTV Guide! It’s like having a personal assistant who finds you exactly what you’re looking for – any hour of the day!
