HungrySquid
HungrySquid by Michal Malewicz is a gaming app that stood out to be because of how relaxed I felt while playing it! I know the name HungrySquid doesn’t make you think about taking a deep breath, but the game really does seem to mesmerize me! I know it has something to do with the background music, but I also think it’s a little bit of the scenery, too – the little glowing squids in pretty calming colors on six different planets!
The story behind the HungrySquid’s gameplay is that these squids are the keepers of burnt down stars and planets that will forever float through space. They need to better learn the ways of the keepers. If they succeed, they’ll get their own dead planet. If they don’t succeed, they’ll be dumped in one of our dead oceans. The squids need to expand their minds and hearts, which is done through a connection with a living being from another galaxy. That’s where we come in. HungrySquid offers three different games: Classic, Time Attack and Zen (my favorite). Classic is the most basic, so I’ll tell you a little about it. In the Classic game, you’ll see six planets: Earth, Plesndea, Frestone, Gooberoo, Spleexea and Gleetoor. These are your “worlds”, which could be meant in more ways than one. Each world has 15 levels, giving you a total of 90. Yes, the gameplay is plenteous! After playing level one (located in planet Plesndea), you’ll get the jest of how HungrySquid is played. You’ll be introduced to this planet this greeting, “Here we go! Help Neeloo earn her own dead star to feed on its remaining energy, so she can spend millennia floating through space in peace and harmony. If you succeed, she will grow bigger and stronger. If not, she’ll just end up in one of your oceans.” Do you see how it is already so mesmerizing! Ahhh, I love it!
When playing a level in HungrySquid, you’re given two minutes to complete it. The way to complete a level is to rotate the blocks to find the perfect combination. If you can find this combination, you’ll lead the squid towards the outer ruin! Tap the squid’s head to release the planet’s core in a goo form. The goo will then travel outwards through the ways written on the blocks. The more goo gets out, the better score you’ll be given. If the streams of goo cross each other, tap the crossing to receive additional points! When you tap on the squid, you’ll have a chance to prove just how speedy you are. Think fast and tap on the highlighted blocks for extra bonus points! You’re limited on time before the goo explodes on its own, so act fast! My explanation of HungrySquid doesn’t do the game justice! You’re going to have to try it out for yourself! The relaxing atmosphere allows you to think clearly enough to figure out the tricky combinations! Enjoy!
