ABC Family by ABC Family themselves is free to download in the app store. It’s a go-to app for anyone who’s addicted to the many great shows on ABC! The app offers a line-up of all shows, a schedule listing show times, closed captioning, full episodes and even a viewing history, that lets you track which episodes you’ve already watched!

First of all, let’s hear it for ABC Family – not just this app but the station itself! If you’re not addicted to Switched at Birth, Pretty Little Liars or the brand new show – The Fosters, it’s YOU who’s missing out! The ABC Family app is perfect for scheduling and finding out whether it’s a new episode on tonight or just an old rerun! You can even watch the latest episodes right from you iOS device! Yes, you heard me right – ABC Family offers FULL episodes! It seems like it’s the two most recent episodes that are stored within the app. They do have an “expire by” date, that tells you when they will no longer be shown on the app. When they expire, I suspect it’s because they’ll be replaced with a brand new one! I really love how the app stores your viewing history! I use to have to watch the first ten minutes of a show, before I would realize that I had already seen it! But with this app, I can just take a peek at my history! Gotta love that! The episodes are shown with a small amount of commercials. It’s much, much less than you’d watch on your actual TV! ABC Family gives you quick, easy and full access to your favorite ABC shows! It’s a must have!

iTunes describes ABC Family like so:

ScribbleMix: Monsters University Pack can be played against your Facebook friends or a random opponent. If it’s your turn to draw, the game will tell you just what to draw. My first drawing was a “soldier in a jungle”. I have no idea how to draw a jungle, but I gave it my best shot! You can re-spin for a new drawing option, although it does cost you a few coins. This game is fun on both ends – drawing and guessing! I enjoy doing both! I love that I can play against a random opponent, rather than waiting forever on a Facebook friend! You can have multiple games going at once, which lets you stay busy while you wait. You can build your profile by leveling up! You’ll level up when you earn a certain amount of experience points. There are various color packs you can purchase with your coins, but you are given two of them for free – the basic and monsters packs. I’m not the best drawer, but I’m a pretty darn good guesser! What are you good at in ScribbleMix: Monsters University Pack?

||

A set of high resolution images were posted to the Web late Tuesday claiming to show a side-by-side comparison of the display assemblies for Apple’s iPhone 5 and a rumored next-generation model dubbed “iPhone 5S.”

Source: FanaticFone.com

The photos come from FanaticFone, which alleges to have gotten their hands on a sample of the iPhone 5S display assembly some months before analysts expect Apple to unveil the next-gen handset.

Tuesday’s high-resolution pictures come on the heels of an identical images revealed on Monday, which appeared to match up with a supposed iPhone 5S logic board “leaked” that same day. While Monday’s photos appear to be congruent with the latest imagery, it is not clear whether the display assembly is a production model, a prototype, or merely a well-crafted mock-up.

FanaticFone’s images, while clear and unobstructed, are of unusually high quality, with no shadows or digital artifacts. The photos’ metadata shows the pictures were taken with a prosumer D-SLR without flash, meaning an external lighting source such as a light box was used to capture the nearly flawless images.

Assuming the part is legitimate, it appears as though Apple made only minor changes to the display assembly, with chassis anchor points, camera holes and even antenna plugs located in identical spot. The most obvious difference between the two components is the flex cable that feeds information and power to the panel, and touch data back to the handset.

As the end of Apple’s annual refresh cycle draws near, an increasing number of purported leaks are showing up online. Supposed leaks include a new FaceTime camera, home button, dual-weight vibration motor, SIM tray, volume rocker, and mute switch.

Apple, Samsung & HTC Considering Liquid-Cooled Phones (Rumor)

Digitimes is not a source noted for its hit-rate, but its claim that Apple, Samsung and HTC are all considering liquid-cooled phones isn’t quite as far-fetched as it sounds: NEC has already launched one.

Smartphone players such as Apple, Samsung Electronics and High Tech Computer (HTC) have started showing interest in adopting ultra-thin heat pipes for their smartphones and are expected to release heat pipe-adopted models in the fourth quarter, at the earliest, according to sources from cooling module player.

The NEC Medias X 06 E launched last month in Japan was nicknamed the ladyphone, as it was designed to appeal to women who apparently complained about the heat generated by smartphones. The phone itself was nothing special – a 1.7Ghz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 4.7-inch display – it is the cooling that made it stand out …

Most of today’s smartphones use a graphite ‘radiator’ and foil to transmit heat to the outer casing, where it can dissipate. The NEC uses the same liquid cooling system used in some ultrabooks: a pipe filled with coolant which carries the heat away from the CPU and wireless chips. The difference is the size of the pipe. While ultrabooks have pipes with a typical diameter of around 1.1mm (0.04 inches), the NEC uses pipes almost half the size.

Digitimes’ claim that we can expect Apple to adopt liquid cooling by the end of the year seems unlikely: while several companies are working on the technology for smartphones, current yield rates are said to be just 30%. But with smartphone processors becoming ever beefier, and 4G chips generating more heat, we probably can expect liquid cooling to become a mainstream technology for smartphones in the not too distant future.

Apple Testing Deep LinkedIn Integration for iOS 7

Further bolstering the presence of third-party social networks in iOS, Apple is testing deepLinkedIn integration for the upcoming release of iOS 7, according to code-based references found inside of the first beta of iOS 7. The code points to a single-sign-on system, similar to how iOS integrates Facebook and Twitter, for LinkedIn accounts. The references also indicate that users will be able to easily post content, such as Web links, to LinkedIn via a share-sheet or through iOS applications…

<ins><ins id="aswift_0_anchor"></ins></ins>

According to Hamza Sood, who discovered and sent us the LinkedIn code and text strings, certain pieces of code are missing for the LinkedIn functionality to become active. Perhaps this is why LinkedIn integration is not present in the user-facing version of the first iOS 7 beta.

It is currently uncertain if Apple plans to continue to develop LinkedIn integration for iOS 7, or if it will be a feature that simply vanishes after internal testing. Apple has cut social networks from iOS in the past. For example, back in 2010, Apple tested versions of iOS 4 that included Facebook integration, but the two companies did not agree to a deal until 2012 with iOS 6.

Apple added Vimeo, Flickr, and Tencent Weibo integration with iOS 7.

iOS 7 integration with LinkedIn would not be unprecedented. At the WWDC 2013 keynote, Apple and LinkedIn announced ties for the upcoming release of OS X Mavericks. Linkedin integration in Mavericks allows for single-sign-on app access, sharing from Safari, Notification Center-based alerts, and a presence inside of Safari for Mac’s Shared Links view. Twitter is noticeably alone in iOS 7′s Shared Links panel, so adding LinkedIn integration to iOS 7 would seem logical.

Screenshots of the aforementioned code and text strings:

As we know iOS 7 has been unveiled. If you are an iOS tablet user, then you must be expecting to enjoy all features of the new firmware on your device. Still it is not available for the iOS tablet. Now we can watch a video that shows the new firmware running on an iOS tablet. According to Rozetked, he has managed to install the alpha version of iOS 7 on his iOS tablet. He has also posted a video that shows the new firmware running on his iPad. It is recommended that you must wait until the release of iOS 7.

The video clearly shows the flat user interface of the new firmware. You can see the redesigned Notification Center on the tablet. The most interesting thing is that it can be accessed via the lock screen. You can see the home screen of the new firmware on iPad. It clearly shows the Control Center. You can find several options for AirPlay and AirDrop in the Control Center, but there is no option for the Flashlight. You should note that Control Center will allow users to control various features quickly from one place. We have recently seen some photos of iOS 7 running on an iPad. It is expected that iOS tablet users will also be able to enjoy all features of iOS 7 on their device. You can watch the new video embedded below.

If you have installed the beta version of iOS 7 on your iOS smartphone, then you must have seen quick access options for the Camera, the Clock, and the Calculator in the Control Center. From the video you can see these options are not available in the Control Center of iOS tablet. Currently, you can download the beta version of this firmware for iPhone and iPod touch. The Cupertino company is also expected to release iOS 7 for iPad.
Did Apple Intentionally Make iOS 7 Controversial to Hide a Bigger Issue?

iOS 7′s design is the big talking point in the iOS world as of late, and most people seem to hate what Apple did to the OS. Some people have even swore to jump ship to Android because of these changes, while others think that Apple is going to make drastic changes by the time iOS 7 is actually released, addressing these concerns. Personally though, another thought has occurred to me lately: what if this controversy is all part of the plan?

Before the announcement of iOS 7, there was a lot of talk about how Apple would have to innovate this time around. iOS has remained more or less visually unchanged since the beginning, and a lot of people think the design is getting dated. Android on the other hand has changed a lot since the beginning, both internally and in terms of what’s available for it. In fact, the ability to make Android look however you want through custom launchers (home screen apps) has paved the way or some truly amazing custom designs. The simply truth of the matter is that this issue Apple has created with iOS 7 couldn’t happen on Android, because the part of the OS that’s under scrutiny is completely user-changeable on Android. Facebook Home is a perfect example of what can be done with that ability, and it’s something that is extremely unlikely to ever be put into iOS.

The question I have is simple: where is all the talk about the basic outdated nature of iOS now? There are some changes to functionality in iOS 7, but as far as the home screen and a lot of other aspect of it goes, it’s essentially unchanged. Few of the issues that were so hot before iOS 7 was announced were actually addressed in iOS 7, but that doesn’t seem to be as important to people right now. The question then becomes if that is what Apple planned all along.

Let’s say for a moment that Apple didn’t change the design at all in iOS 7, but simply included the new features using the current design. How would people then have reacted? I’m fairly certain that a lot of people would then be screaming about Apple’s inability to change, cursing the design that a lot of people would now pay to be allowed to keep. By distracting everyone with a new design, Apple has- whether it was planned or not- been able to direct attention away from the fact that most of the changes are completely visual. I honestly have no clue if that’s even remotely close to the truth, but I can’t help but wonder if people being pissed at thedesign might just be the favorable outcome here.

It might be optimistic to assume any intelligence on the side of Apple here, but one thing’s for certain: it’s far easier to now go out and tell people they heard them and are changing the design to something different than it would be to respond to complaints about core functionality still being unchanged, and in some cases inferior to Android. Regardless, Apple is showing that even 7 OS versions in, it’s still mostly unwilling to make changes to the way iOS works, and I frankly hope that’s going to be its downfall.

iPhone Password Cracked Using Tether for a Wi-Fi Hotspot

New findings by researchers shows that the iPhone security password can be cracked in just a mere 24 seconds, this was possible after the iPhone was used as a tether for a Wi-Fi hotspot.

It normally takes 50 seconds to crack the password using a single CPU machine, but afters tests using a 4 CPU machine it lowered the crack time to only 24 seconds. This was achievable after using a random password generator with in what they call a non-random manner.

This is too quick considering phones are always being hacked, so to see the iPhone password security in 24 seconds is very bad indeed. The research reports on the PSK authentication method used by Apple iOS to set up a secure WPA2 connection when using an iPhone as a Wi-Fi mobile hotspot and it shows that Apple iOS generates weak default passwords, which makes the Apple iOS mobile hotspot feature susceptible to dramatic attacks on the WPA2 handshake.

In a nutshell the passwords are generated in a random manner, which consists of a word four to six letters long. Then what happens is a number that has been randomly generated gets added to the end of that word, this should normally be ok dependent on the length of the word list being used.

One dictionary according to the researchers contained only 1,842 words; the words chosen seems to be non-random with some turning up more than they should do. The dictionary is now known as brute force password crack, in the research they found that running each of the 1,842 words against all the possibilities randomly is possible.

This means Apple will have to start using a larger dictionary, as well as using a longer number string and longer letter string, this will help a lot. We are guessing this security issue will be updated to iOS 7, maybe beta 2 or 3, time will tell.

We occasionally like to bring our readers details of video comparisons of popular smartphones and tablets, and today it’s the turn of the iPhone 5 with iOS 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. This may sound a little odd as the Galaxy S4 is out with the Galaxy S4 Mini arriving shortly. Nevertheless, we thought this video offered an interesting look at the two devices.

Of course the iPhone 5 doesn’t yet run iOS 7, as the upcoming Apple mobile operating systemis only available in beta form to developers right now. However, the iPhone 5 shown in the video is running iOS 7. We’ve posted a lot of news about iOS 7 since it’s introduction at WWDC last week, and the update is scheduled for a public release sometime in fall.

We came across the 12-minute YouTube video that gives a good overview of both smartphones. The Galaxy S3 Mini that is used is running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and the video begins by discussing the higher price of the iPhone. The reviewer goes on to point out the better design and app experience of the iPhone before showing the lockscreens, and then shows the camera app on the iPhone 5 with iOS 7.

It continues with a look at the new control center of iOS 7 on the iPhone 5 and compares this with the Galaxy S3 Mini, and then notes that as the latter runs Android, users are able to customize the device. There’s a look at Search facilities, home screens, multitasking, swipe gestures, voice assistants and more.

In conclusion the iPhone 5 is noted to have a better design and cleaner views, and reference is made to the fact that Apple is good at finding features that people will use most. To balance this out though, the reviewer notes that the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini has a removable battery, freedom of customization and expandable memory, plus it has a much lower price.

Why not check out this video review that we’ve embedded for you below this story. We’d like to find out whether you favor the iPhone 5 with iOS 7 or the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini? What points do you think make the iPhone 5 better than the S3 Mini or vice versa? Let us know with your comments.
