Facebook iPhone App Update Provides iOS 7 Look and Feel
Enjoying iOS 7 so far on your iPhone? Well, you’ve still got a lot of apps to update as more and more third-party developers are releasing the iOS 7 new versions. The first app I updated as soon as I saw its availability was the Facebook iPhone app.
It’s not really a huge update, since there’s nothing really much to do when it comes to tweaking the aesthetics of the app to make it in tune with the look and feel of iOS 7. What Facebook did instead was to make some changes on how to work through the app. You can now see a new menu at the bottom of the screen for checking your news feed, friend requests, messages or notifications. There’s also a More option which will bring up favorites, pages, groups, apps and other settings. Previously, you had to swipe to the right to bring out these options.
Facebook also said there is now a translucent bar at the top of the app that changes dynamically as you scroll through different photos and posts. In addition, when reading a story, you can now instantly go back to the news feed by simply swiping from left to right.
Unfortunately, the new navigation features of the Facebook iPhone app are not yet available for iPad. You can still update the iPad version to get the bug fixes, however.
The Facebook iPhone app is now available in the iTunes App Store.
