Ez Budget Envelopes
Ez Budget Envelopes by 30 South LLC is a budget system that uses envelopes to keep track of spending and saving. If you’re looking to watch your spending, this app can help keep it under control by showing you just how much you spend. It might surprise you! Ez Budget Envelopes starts you off with seven folders for different categories: food, housing, personal, saving, giving, transportation and utilities. You can edit any of these folders to name them whatever you want, and you can even add more. Inside these categories, you can add other folders. For example under your utilities, you might want to add folders for electric, gas, water and trash. Or under transportation you could add car payment, car insurance, gas and oil. You can set up the folders to your bills or needs. When saving or spending money, you can add a transaction, which is super easy. You simply add a description of the transaction, type in the dollar amount, choose if it’s a deposit or withdrawal and then choose the category that you the transaction to come from. Easy breezy!
Ez Budget Envelopes isn’t the cheapest app, costing $2.99 to download, but it definitely serves a good purpose. If it works for you, I’m sure you’ll think it’s a good three bucks spent. Now here’s how the developers got even more greedy. Paid apps don’t have ads, right? Correct. Most paid apps do not have ads. You either make your money from the paid download or from the ads. Once in a while you’ll come across a paid app that has ads, but it’s not very often at all. And, it’s always considered to be greedy, because they are “double dipping” so to speak. To my disappointment, Ez Budget Envelopes does have ads. A three-dollar app still having ads is outrageous. They do offer an in-app purchase to remove these ads for $0.99, which I think is nothing short of a scam. First you buy an expensive app, only to be so frustrated with all the ads that you end up spending ANOTHER buck just because you don’t want to burn your three-dollar investment. It’s terribly greedy.
If you can get over the deceptive cost and the fact that Ez Budget Envelopes actually costs four dollars, you’ll probably love the app. It’s set up nicely and easy to migrate through. I love the envelope system, and the recurring transaction feature saves me tons of time. If the cost is okay with you, I would recommend Ez Budget Envelopes. I don’t think I would have bought the app at three dollars if I had known it still had ads, but now that I have it – I do use it regularly. And, I do love it. It’s just a great system. So if you’re looking for a great budget/envelope system, Ez Budget Envelopes will surprise you. It’s just a little pricey.
