The Croods
Rovio’s newest app, The Croods, was made when they teamed up with DreamWorks Animation to promote the movie that premieres on March 22nd! The movie is set in a prehistoric era, when a man’s position as a “Leader of the Hunt” is threatened by the arrival of a prehistoric genius that comes up with revolutionary new inventions like fire! The idea behind the app’s gameplay is set up to be just like the movie! You’re living in the Stone Age where you’ll trap and tame evolutionary mixed-up animals, as well as create crazy inventions with Grug. These inventions will allow you to explore new areas in the wild. One of the things I love most about The Croods’ app is the landscape. The area your set in looks like a forest, but it’s sitting on top of a cliff! Sounds a little scary, but it’s actually really pretty, which is fairly expected from an app by DreamWorks and Rovio, together!
The Croods is a build up game that gives you what the game calls “chores” to finish. When finishing these chores, you’ll get rewarded by earning money, leveling up and unlocking more items and creatures. There are ten evolutionary creatures to catch! First you’ll set up traps to catch them. And when you do, you’ll send them to the taming cage, where you’ll feed and groom them! Once they are tame, you’ll build them homes! Soon after that, you’ll find out these strange mixed-up creatures will actually benefit you. Here are a couple examples. While the Molarbear eats your berries, it gives you carrots. And, while the Bunny Beast eats the Molarbear’s carrots, it has the ability to launch huge masses great distances. Get the idea? Build up your own Stone Age world with The Croods!
