Big LensIf you’re anything like me, you have an individual folder on your iPhone just packed with photography apps.  They are a dime a dozen!  Why do I keep so many?  Because they all seem have something different to offer me.  Big Lens by Reallusion Inc is my most recent photo app download.  It specializes in getting a perfect focus for your pictures.  You can choose where you want the focus to be, and Big Lens can lightly blur out the surroundings!  The result you get seems similar to something you would see from a picture taken with an SLR camera, so the quality is definitely there.

Big LensFirst you’ll focus Big Lens’ where you want, snap the picture and then come the edits, which you won’t always need to use.  Set the aperture, change periphery blur levels, add a filter and even adjust the background light.  Once you’re done making your perfect picture, Big Lens shows you a before and after shot.  Who doesn’t love that?  I always love to see just what my editing skills are capable of!  Big Lens is generous with the filters having 18 options to choose from.  Beyond adding filters that offer different effects, you can also enhance the coloring and increase the contrast.

There are a lot of different photo apps I love, but Big Lens is the first to make such a competent and sharp picture!  Many apps let you mess with the filter to give you a cool color blasted Facebook profile picture, but Big Lens is different, allowing you to make more defined pictures that could be used for your portfolio or even your resume!

iTunes lists Big Lens’ features as such:

Smart Focus System
Simply use your finger tips to focus your images without any previous knowledge in Depth-of-Field. You can use basic geometric shapes or a lasso tool to auto-focus your target, or you can choose advanced mode to manually define your focus area. Smart Focus will then automatically refine your selection with precision.

Aperture Control
Adjust the aperture in Big Lens with a single gesture to instantly change the blur level of the out-of-focus area. Larger apertures blur the background more! Offers 9 unique lenses that allow out-of-focus light points to blur into shapes like hearts and stars (Bokeh effect). This great tool turns simple-looking backgrounds into atmospheric backdrops.

Filter Effects
More than 18 filters that allow you to enhance color, increase contrast, or add Lomo effects. The result is spectacular filter simulation results right from your iPhone.

Instant Focus/Blur Tool
Be able to instantly modify the focus and blur area with their fingers in no time. Use simple gestures to enhance and retouch focal areas to make the subject of your photos really pop!

Before & After Preview
Allow you to compare before & after images to ensure they get the exact result they’re looking for. You can review your images at any time during your make-over process.
