Apple App Store Surpasses 40 Billion Downloads

Apple recently revealed that almost 20 billions apps were downloaded in 2012, this brings the total number of App Store downloads to an astounding 40 billion. In December alone a record breaking 2 billion apps were downloaded.

The App Store boasts more than 500 million active App Store users who have more than 775,000 apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch apps to choose from with more than 300,000 being native to the iPad. 

Eddy Cue states “It has been an incredible year for the iOS developer community,” furthermore he adds “Developers have made over seven billion dollars on the App Store, and we continue to invest in providing them with the best ecosystem so they can create the most innovative apps in the world.”

The App Store is now available in 155 countries around the world, offering apps in categories like games, business, news, sport, health & fitness, and travel.
