AAA Roadside
AAA Roadside by AAA is a travel app that has to be one of the most potentially useful apps out there! Upon downloading AAA Roadside, you will need to create a profile for yourself. Your profile will include your first and last name, membership number, phone and zip code. Once you’ve created your profile, you can actually see your AAA card. This is great in case there’s a time you need it and don’t have it with you, or even if you’ve lost your card and are waiting to receive a new one. We all use AAA for discounts, so being able to view your card without actually having it in hand comes in quite handy! The main feature you can use when having a profile is requesting road service. There’s no need to make that annoying and stressful call anymore. You know the one where you have to slowly read your membership number over and over to the associate on the other end of the phone who can’t hear you very well. If you’re calling for assistance, you don’t want to waste your time on the phone reading off your account information. With AAA Roadside, you simply have to tap the large green icon at the top of your screen that reads, “Request Road Service”. Upon tapping that icon, you’re given three options: continue your request, to call AAA or to call 911. Most likely, you just want to continue your request, so after making that option you’re asked to choose the vehicle that needs service. (In the vehicles tab, AAA Roadside lets you add in different vehicles you have and a little information about them including: name, year, make/model, engine size and color.) If you have added your vehicles in previously, you simply choose the vehicle you’re in at the time.
My fiancé used AAA Roadside a few weeks ago and he used the app instead of calling, and someone called him within minutes to tell him they were on the way! He wasn’t asked for any information at all. Because of his profile, they already had it all! After talking to him about it, I was excited to download the app. However, I have entered my vehicle at least five times and the app just won’t save it! This is a huge issue seeing as when wanting to request road service, you have to enter a vehicle – but the app won’t save the vehicle you enter. So, it just keeps asking you to enter a vehicle, and you just can’t get past that point! I’m not sure what has happened to the app over the last few weeks since he used it, but it does not work at all right now. I’ve read numerous reviews from users that are having the same issue. What a bummer. It has so much potential! If you want to give it a try, make sure it’s an update after version 2.2.4. Maybe they will end up fixing it.
