94 Seconds by Scimob currently ranks as the number one free app in the app store. That’s reason enough for me to download it, so I did. 94 Seconds is a gaming app that gives you exactly 94 seconds to answer as many questions as you can. The questions you’re given are tricky. You’ll be given one category and one letter. Let’s say the category was “fruit” and the letter was A. You would need to choose a fruit that begins with that letter. That one’s super easy, but what if the category was “country capital” and the letter was A. Could you think of one? Or, what if the category was “units of measurements” and the letter was Z? Do you know a unit of measurement that stars with a Z? I sure don’t! 94 Seconds gets pretty tough! You can skip ahead to the next question if you have no idea what the answer is for the question you’re on. There are also four jokers that help you find the answer you can’t find on your own. To earn chain bonus points, give consecutive, good answers. You’ll also get extra points if your answer is spelled correctly, extra long or rare. Here’s an example. If your category was “fruit” and your letter was P, the answer peach would give you one point, while the answer persimmon, you would get two points for rareness. Get it?
94 Seconds is definitely challenging, even right off the bat! Makes me realize I’m not as knowledgeable as I thought! This is a good game for the all around smarties out there. You know the people that know a little bit about everything! However, it’s a little too tough for me! I can’t name too many types of shrubs of any kind, let alone ones that start with a specific letter! And irregular verbs – I know them, but couldn’t rattle them off by letters! Plus, it takes me half of the whole 94 seconds to just remember one! I haven’t been in school for over ten years! 94 Seconds is fun, but a serious challenge. If you think you’re up for it, try it out.

- Spelling mistakes and typos are permitted, within reason…
- Rare or hard response: 1 point if answer is easy, 2 if it is rare or difficult. Example: A fruit beginning with P? Peach 1 point, 2 points for Persimmon!
- Series: responses in a row enable bonus points
- Skip: can’t find it? Skip, but 3 seconds are removed
- Unlock achievements with different records in the app or on Game Center
Analyze your results at the end of the game, look at the examples (“I knew it!”) And try to improve your score: best series, average, all statistics are available.
